WINE is an open source implementation of the Windows API on top of X, OpenGL, and Unix. Think of Wine as a compatibility layer for running Windows programs. Follow the steps below to install most Microsoft Windows programs in Ubuntu.

Step 1

Click here to install WINE. Do not accept the Microsoft font licence during installation.

Step 2

Copy all the contents of the application CD/DVD to a folder on your computer.

Step 3

Right-click on the "setup.exe" file and select "Properties", then click on the "Permissions" tab and tick on "Execute".

Step 4

Right-click on the "setup.exe" file again and select "Open With Wine Windows Program Loader". The installation will begin.
