It is possible to have Ubuntu and Microsoft Windows installed on your computer. So you do not have to abandon Microsoft completely. The process or method of using two operating systems on one computer, is called "dual booting".

If you intend to use Windows 7 and Ubuntu, then make sure you reserve enough disk space for Ubuntu during the Windows 7 installation. As always Google and the SULUG mailing list are your friends if you have problems.
