The open source alternative for NXInetkey is called Pynetkey.
  1. It is available here on Janto Dreijer's site.
  2. Go there and download the file called pynetkey###.deb.
  3. Double-click on pynetkey###.deb. The Software Center will open. Click on install.
To open an internet connection after installation
  1. Search for Pynetkey using the Dash.
  2. Enter your username and password in the dialog and click on "Connect".
